World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

The Kotman Technology mission of “Our team helping your team to succeed together,” extends beyond just the work we do with our clients. It’s a daily reminder that our teams; our families, communities, societies, and the human race only succeed when we all work together.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Breaking the Chains, a local organization fighting human trafficking, to honor World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30.

The Human Trafficking Problem

Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Human traffickers generate billions of dollars in profits every year by victimizing millions of people around the world and here in the United States. Human trafficking is considered to be one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world.

Right here at home, Fresno is regarded as a major hub of human trafficking, with many victims taken here from the Bay Area or southern California and forced into a life as a sex worker.

Breaking The Chains

Breaking the Chains (BTC) is one organization that is working to put a stop to this heinous crime. They work with local, state, and federal law-enforcement agencies to provide rescue, relocation, restorative, and residential services to victims of human trafficking.

The BTC campus is equipped with a beautiful safe house that provides long term shelter to survivors. In addition, their trauma treatment center is equipped with an executive office, reception area, counseling offices, a large classroom/recreation area, child care center, and a gym. Community support is essential to all that BTC does to help break the chains of human trafficking in the lives of survivors forever.
